MERRIMACK -- Registration is now under way for the Parks and Recreation Department's summer programs.

Summer camps begin June 23. Detailed information on the summer program schedule can be found at the Merrimack Parks and Recreation office, Merrimack Public Library, Town Hall and online at www.merrimacknh.gov.

New programs include "Introduction to Golf" and "Introduction to Skateboarding." The new golf program will be offered 9 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, at Wasserman Park's upper field. Youngsters 5 to 10 will learn the basics of the game along with, sportsmanship, discipline and (hopefully) patience.

"Intro to Skateboarding" will be offered at the Merrimack Skateboard Park on O'Gara Drive, Monday to Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. Bring your skateboard and learn the basics of skateboarding. Safety equipment such as helmet, elbow pads, and knee pads are recommended.

Red Cross swimming lessons for children 5 and older will be given in Naticook Lake at Wasserman Park. A parent-child class will be offered for

youngsters 3 and 4. Guard Start class also will be offered for children 12 to 14. American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguarding is available for those 15 and older. There are prerequisites for this program. Please refer to the program's brochure for dates and more information.

Soccer Camps are held at Wasserman Park. This instructional one-week program is for children 5 to 12.

Youth tennis lessons will be offered Monday through Friday in two-week sessions at the Wasserman Park tennis courts. Bring a tennis racket for this instructional program. The first period is for children 5 to 8, and a second period for children 9 to 12.
