AMHERST -- The annual Amherst Garden Club plant sale will be held May 10, rain or shine. The sale showcases perennials and other plants from the collections of Garden Club members.

The club collects plants from its members and offers them for sale at the Wilkins School. This year's sale will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. According to Marty Draper, publicity chairman of the club, the sale features locally grown perennials, annuals, vegetables, hanging baskets, birdhouses and boutique items.

A raffle will be held for a Husqvarna lawn mower donated by Chappell Tractor. Master gardeners will be available to answer horticultural questions. A special booth will be staffed by North Land Design professionals, who will provide complimentary advice on landscape design issues.

The Amherst Garden Club maintains half a dozen civic gardens in town, and provides scholarships to high-school graduates with the proceeds of the sale.
